Tour Plan

Day 1

  • Make your way to Mwanza, the second-largest city in Tanzania. Mwanza is the main entry point for Rubondo Island National Park. You can either fly into Mwanza Airport (MWZ) or take a ferry from other ports around Lake Victoria.

  • Upon arrival in Mwanza, depending on the time of day, you can relax at your hotel or head straight out to explore the city. There are a few interesting places to visit in Mwanza, such as the Sukuma Museum, which tells the story of the Sukuma people, the largest ethnic group in Tanzania, and the Viktoria Mall, which is a good place to pick up souvenirs.

  • In the afternoon, take a boat trip from Mwanza to Rubondo Island. The boat trip takes about 1.5-2 hours and is a great way to see the scenery of Lake Victoria. You might even spot some hippopotamuses or crocodiles along the way!

  • Check in to your lodge or campsite on Rubondo Island. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and relax by the campfire, listening to the sounds of the night.

Day 2

  • Start your day with a guided walking safari in the Rubondo Island National Park. The park is home to a variety of animals, including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, sitatungas, bushbucks, and crocodiles. Your guide will help you spot these animals and learn about their behavior.

  • In the afternoon, go on a boat safari on Lake Victoria. This is a great way to see the island from a different perspective and to spot some of the park's many birds, such as fish eagles, cormorants, and kingfishers. You might also be lucky enough to see some hippopotamuses or crocodiles up close.

  • In the evening, enjoy another delicious dinner at your lodge or campsite and share stories of your day's adventures with your fellow travelers.

Day 3

  • After breakfast, enjoy some time at your leisure to relax on the beach or go for another walk in the park.

  • In the afternoon, take a boat trip back to Mwanza. From Mwanza, you can catch your flight back home or continue your travels to other parts of Tanzania.
