  • Arrival: Arrive in Kigoma or Kibondo, the two main entry points to Gombe Stream National Park.
    • Kigoma: A port town on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, it's the most common entry point. From here, take a boat to Mlele, the park headquarters.
    • Kibondo: A small town north of Kigoma, accessible by charter flights from Arusha or Mwanza. From Kibondo, take a four-wheel drive to Mlele.
  • Park Headquarters: Check into your lodge at Mlele and relax after your journey.
  • Afternoon Activity: In the afternoon, embark on a guided nature walk around the park headquarters. Learn about the park's diverse ecology and wildlife.

Day 2

  • Kasakela River Trail: Rise early for a morning hike on the Kasakela River Trail. This moderate-difficulty trail winds along the Kasakela River, offering stunning views of the rainforest and opportunities to spot primates like chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and baboons. Keep an eye out for colorful birds and other wildlife along the way. A packed lunch is recommended for this hike.
