Tour Plan

Day 1

  • Take a morning bus or taxi from Arusha to Lushoto, the main town in the Usambaras. The drive takes about 4-5 hours and is very scenic, winding through mountains and coffee plantations.

  • In the afternoon, explore Lushoto, a charming town with a rich colonial history. Visit the Lushoto Museum to learn about the history of the Usambaras, and then take a stroll through the town center to see the old German architecture.

  • In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of Lushoto's many restaurants, most of which serve fresh, local cuisine.

Day 2

  • After breakfast, hire a guide and car for the day and drive to Shume Magozi, a series of waterfalls located in the heart of the Eastern Usambaras. The drive takes about an hour and is very scenic.

  • Hike to the waterfalls, which are a beautiful sight. There are several pools below the falls where you can go for a swim.

  • In the afternoon, drive back to Lushoto and relax at your hotel.

Day 3

  • In the morning, visit the Mamboya Forest Reserve, a lush rainforest with a rich variety of plant and animal life. Go for a hike in the forest, or visit the Mgambo Materfalls, another beautiful series of waterfalls.

  • In the afternoon, take a bus or taxi back to Arusha.
